Mediation is a voluntary process that addresses disagreements, improves communication, and works to produce solutions that are acceptable and beneficial to all involved.  The focus of mediation is to explore the potential for change in the behaviors and attitudes leading to conflict, in the confusion of roles and expectations for each person, and in the breakdown of communication.  Mediation helps alleviate the possibility of escalating stress and further disruption by addressing the underlying issues contributing to conflict between people.
